Unprecedented Snowfall Tragedy Strikes Pakistan, Claiming Lives and Causing Destruction

  • Unexpected snow and freezing rain hit remote areas of Pakistan, causing at least 35 deaths and many injuries.
  • Landslides buried homes, and heavy rains destroyed hundreds of houses, leaving some without electricity for days.
  • Experts attribute the unusual weather to climate change, with temperatures dropping unexpectedly in typically hot and humid March.

Over the weekend, a lot of people died and many got hurt because of bad weather in some parts of Pakistan. It was freezing cold and unexpectedly snowy in remote areas. Sadly, 22 children were among those who died. Landslides buried some houses, causing the deaths.

The snow and rain mainly affected the northern and western regions of Pakistan. Roads got blocked, and around 150 houses got completely destroyed. Another 500 houses were partly damaged. It was so bad that electricity got cut off in some places for days.

Normally, March in Pakistan is hot and humid, so this snow was a big surprise. Experts say it’s because of climate change. They’re not used to seeing snow in March. One person said he only saw snow once in his area, and that was about 25 or 30 years ago.

The heavy rain destroyed many homes, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. The government there is helping the affected people with supplies and money.

The weather department says it’ll be cold and dry for the rest of the week, but some places might still get snow on the hills.

So, it’s been a tough time for those parts of Pakistan. People are trying to cope with the damage caused by the unexpected weather.
